Pig butchering scams are among the fastest-growing forms of financial fraud, affecting victims across the globe and generating billions in illicit profits for organized criminal networks.

In this two-hour session, former prosecutor and anti-scam advocate Erin West shares insights from her work investigating these schemes, supporting victims, and exposing the criminal organizations behind them. Attendees will learn how scammers build trust, manipulate victims into fraudulent investments, and move stolen funds through complex international networks.

The presentation will explore the real-world impact of these crimes, the warning signs organizations should recognize, and practical steps individuals and employers can take to reduce risk and support victims.

This session provides a compelling overview of the pig butchering ecosystem and equips attendees with the knowledge needed to better protect themselves, their colleagues, and their communities.

Erin West is the founder of Operation Shamrock, a global nonprofit uniting law enforcement, industry, and everyday citizens to disrupt the world’s fastest-growing form of transnational organized crime: pig butchering scams. After 26 years as a prosecutor—including eight on the REACT High-Tech Task Force where she became known for her relentless pursuit of crypto criminals—Erin now leads a cross-border fight to expose the scam economy, mobilize action, and protect both victims and the trafficked workers forced to run these schemes.
